I'm going "off the wall" a little with this article but I think there
are a few good points to bring up by it.
BDSM-porn. Has anyone seen any? Has anyone gone looking for it in the adult
stores? I have and I am shocked to see that most of it consists of Domme's
with male submissive's or is so hard core, you need a high pain tolerance just
to watch it. Now, I'm not knocking Domme's, male submissive's or pain-sluts
and I'm not saying that you can't find anything else but the choices somewhat
limited. I have actually seen some very well done scenes recorded on video but
for the most part, you are limited to select content and theme.
I would assume that most of this comes from directors that prefer these kinds
of things over the other possibilities. Or that, those who prefer it otherwise,
have a respect for it in the form of it belonging between the participants (and
behind locked doors) only. This can be a good thing or a bad thing but I do
wonder then, just how many of the producers and directors that opt to create
such Porn (if you can really call it that) really know what it is really about.
There are good movies out there that correctly depict just about every type of
lifestyle out there (and yes there are those that do it wrongly), so where is
the problem in the porn industry?
A second thing to note is what you find on news specials. "Tonight we go deep
into the lives of people who practice BDSM"… I have yet to see one show that
shows anything less than shocking footage. I suppose that has to do in part
with the fact that they want ratings and the best way to do that is to show
the extremes. But what about the impressions that leaves on those who watch?
If you know better, all you do is shake your head. If you don't, then after
watching one of these news specials you believe that hanging people by tufts
of skin and tying them up so tight their shin turns a sickly purplish color or
having all manner of sharp (or blunt) objects poked into the skin and burning
with cigarettes or open flames is what it is all about.
Ask the average person what they think or know about BDSM and you usually get
something like "ewww! That is disgusting and not normal!" -- Thank you to the
news shows, for your insightful reportage of our lifestyle.
Now I finally come to the point!
For those of you that are curious about the lifestyle, in either a good way or
a bad way, there is so much more to it then what you are going to find on
display "on the market" or TV. I do have to admit, these extremes to exist.
There are always going to be extremes. But for the most part, they are more
the exception to the norm. …and what is the norm, you ask? The norm is two or
more consenting adults enjoying themselves by doing things to each other that
they all agree upon as "not going too far." How far would be too far depends
on limitations of those involved and something I covered in my last article.
